Retreat | Afternoon Stroll | Registration Fees | Registration | Scholarships & Stipends | We're pleased to announce the 2012 Folklorists Retreat presented by South Arts and Mid-America Arts Alliance, Saturday, April 21-23, 2012 in Memphis, Tennessee. Lodging, most meals and sessions will be held at the St. Columba Episcopal Conference & Retreat Center, http://www.saintcolumbamemphis.org/ . The Folklorists Retreat is a gathering of academic, public sector, freelance, community scholars and graduate student folklorists for a weekend of networking, discussions, panels, professional development opportunities and fieldtrips. The gathering includes updates from national partners, media presentations, panels, discussions and fieldtrips in addition to the opportunity to meet informally with peers.
Afternoon Stroll This year we are adding an extra afternoon and morning of fieldtrips and exploration. The Afternoon Stroll will include visits to the Cotton Exchange Museum and the National Civil Rights Museum. Register for the Folklorists Retreat >> Scholarships & Stipends South Arts will offer a limited number of scholarships to arts professionals living in South Arts' nine-state region who have never attended a Folklorist Retreat (FITS) in the past, providing an opportunity to those who would not otherwise have been able to attend. Online applications will be accepted between February 22 and April 1. South Arts funds are provided via the Gerri Combs Scholarship. Mid-American Arts Alliance will offer a limited number of stipends to arts professionals.
