Starvox Entertainment

Southern Arts Federation, in partnership with the Georgia Council for the Arts, is hosting the Performing Arts Exchange (PAE) 2008 in the international cultural hub of Atlanta, Georgia. With a special focus on the art of dance, this will prove to be an exciting year for PAE. It has been five years since the performing arts community has gathered in this great city and we are excited to show its cultural growth. Come and stay awhile and enjoy all Atlanta has to offer.

During PAE 2007 Brad Stephenson of the Center for Arts Management and Technology was our roving reporter.  Brad spoke with Tyson Compton of Paramount Arts Center and here is what he had to say. (2m:07s)

The Performing Arts Exchange continues to be the primary marketplace and forum for performing arts presenting and touring on the East and Gulf Coasts of the United States. In its 32nd year, the PAE continues a long-standing commitment to:

  • Foster professional development and enhance artistic programming, technical knowledge, and leadership skills through professional seminars, workshops, roundtables and conversations with experts in the arts.
  • Create opportunities to experience creative work in a variety of artistic disciplines through showcases.
  • Develop business relationships in order to present performing artists and attractions in communities throughout the Southern, Mid-Atlantic and New England states.
  • Exchange knowledge and understanding about the performing arts field through structured and informal networking opportunities.
  • Discuss current and anticipated issues affecting the performing arts field.

Additionally, because we have an in-depth understanding of the logistics and culture of our host city, be on the lookout for new conference features:

  • Our host hotel is the newly renovated Atlanta Marriott Marquis. With renovated rooms and three on-site bars, you can conduct business and rest in comfort at the press of an elevator button.
  • The Exhibit Hall will be located in the AmericasMart Atlanta Apparel Mart. This location has windows on two sides, providing ample natural light for a softer, more personal atmosphere.
  • Our closing party will be hosted at the Georgia Aquarium in the spectacular Oceans Ballroom.  Wrap-up your last minute business conversations and goodbyes while watching the calming playful interaction of the beluga whales.

The performing arts community is vast and it can be complicated to determine where you fit in. We have redesigned the website to make the registration information you need easier to find. Use the following questions to help you decide:

  • Are you an artist/management agency/service provider interested in the Performing Arts Exchange as a business, networking and learning opportunity? The information you will need can most likely be found under Exhibitor.
  • Do you create opportunities for artists to engage audiences? The information you will need can most likely be found under Presenter
  • Are you involved in the presenting and touring industry but attend the conference for the learning exchanges and networking and do not conduct business? The information you will need can most likely be found under Supporter

You may have attended PAE in Atlanta before but not like this!

Ten Reasons to Attend PAE:

1.    You can find everyone you are looking for!

2.    You can see a variety of performances.

3.    You will learn skills that will deepen your expertise.

4.    You can stay ahead of the curve on new innovations in the field.

5.    You will enjoy great hospitality during the Breakfast and Luncheon Showcases, Opening Reception and Closing Party.

6.    This is still a face-to-face business. Meeting with presenters who are interested in your artists, planning block-bookings and discovering artists for your stage yields better results in person than on the phone or by email.

7.    You can talk one-on-one with arts funders and thought leaders from across country.

8.    You can build relationships with colleagues that last your career.

9.    PAE is a cost-effective way to manage the various needs of your venues and your career.

  10.   Renew your energy!

 COME EARLY STAY LATE!

We know Atlanta is a great travel destination. So, we have arranged for the conference hotel rate to last a full week and want you to take advantage of it.

Learn about Atlanta attractions from the Atlanta Convention and Visitor's Bureau or enjoy the city's multicultural richness by visiting Atlanta Heritage. With either option, let PAE be your doorway to additional days of fun.
