Call for new exhibits

 

The Southern Arts Federation is looking for a pre-existing exhibit to add to the Southern Visions: The Southern Arts & Culture Traveling Exhibits roster.

 Submission Requirements:

  • The exhibit’s subject matter must be of broad appeal to the Southeastern region of the United States. Previous exhibit content has not typically been limited to one geographic community, but those who have feature artists or art forms with a national and/or regional level of recognition.  
  • The Southern Visions program does not purchase collections or exhibits for its roster. The artwork featured within the program is obtained on a loan basis for two years, with a possible option for extension.  
  • Exhibit content must reflect the work of artists residing in the Southern Arts Federation’s nine partner states, (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee) or have subject matter of particular relevance to the region such as southern literature, landscapes, cultural traditions, etc.  
  • Exhibits must have a limited touring history within the Southeastern region, having appeared in no more than five venues. 
  • Exhibits should require low to medium security only. 

All proposals must include:

  •  Exhibit Submission Form (MS Word Document)
  • Ten (10) images from the exhibit (digital images, slides, or prints)
  • Brief synopsis of the exhibit, along with copies of any press coverage, press releases, catalogues, educational materials, or public programming materials
  • List of artifacts, photographs and/or text panels, and shipping crates with dimensions and estimated values.

 

Applications must be postmarked by May 5, 2008. Please include the required support materials along with your completed form. 

Submissions will be reviewed by the SAF Traditional Arts Advisory Committee and an Interest Survey will be distributed to Southern Visions constituents. One exhibit will be selected for addition to the Southern Visions roster. The new exhibit will be available for touring Winter 2008.
