Professional development workshops at the Performing Arts Exchange (PAE) support the presenting and touring field with practical management, leadership and career training. During PAE, we offer workshops for artists, managers and presenters through three focus areas: Fundamentals, Skills, and Issues and Ideas.

These three strands of learning allow PAE conference participants at all points in their careers to find opportunities for stimulating conversation.  In addition to Fundamentals and Skills workshops on audience development, fundraising and other crucial topics, this year’s professional development offerings will include new ways of learning: Short Attention Span Sessions let you dip into a topic for just an hour, Conversations With… offers informal discussions with leading thinkers and luminaries in the field, and lots of facilitated Roundtable Discussions let people who are facing the same challenges exchange strategies for success. Presenters, artists, agents and managers will find an array of enticing topics that will help deepen their knowledge and expand their ways of working.

Last year's workshop attendance totaled more than 600, which attests to the importance of professional education in the presenting field.  Many workshop attendees indicated that professional development is a major part of the reason they participate in the conference.  At PAE 2008, more than 24 professional development sessions will be offered Thursday through Saturday on September 25, 26 and 27 and will cover a wide range of topics designed to meet the needs of professionals in the presenting field.  Don’t miss the opportunity to refresh your knowledge on essential practices, explore new trends, discuss an issue impacting the field, or network with your peers!

In 2007, the educational workshop component of the conference was called NALI. It is now referred to as Professional Development at PAE or PD@PAE.
