Dance Touring Initiative

NOW ON TOUR

South Arts' Dance Touring Initiative is a three-year project to enhance the presentation of modern dance and contemporary ballet for presenters and audiences. To strengthen their audiences' connection with and interest in modern dance and contemporary ballet, 11 presenter participants receive intensive professional development, peer mentorship, technical assistance, and touring subsidies during the project.

For the 2011-2012 tour, the presenters selected Abraham.in.Motion, David Dorfman Dance, Evidence Dance Company, and Lula Washington Dance Theatre.  The companies will conduct a multi-day residency in each community; working with students, local dancers and other artists, and connecting with audiences in-depth, as well as giving a public performance. For the 2010-2011 tour, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company and Doug Varone and Dancers  toured the region.
