Braxton Cook is an Emmy Award-winning and multi-faceted artist known for his unique blend of jazz, soul, and alternative R&B. He's a highly skilled alto saxophonist, vocalist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. Cook has collaborated with prominent artists like Jon Batiste, Christian Scott, Robert Glasper, Solange, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Tony Bennett. He's released eight solo projects under his name and toured internationally. His music often explores themes of love, social justice, and personal introspection.
Mathis Picard is a French-Malagasy pianist, composer, producer, and bandleader who currently resides in New York City. Rooted in the tradition of live acoustic performance while incorporating the latest technology, Mathis creates his own musical style influenced by his multi-national background.
Paul Reinhold teaches electric bass and synth bass in Van Nuys, CA, and online. He loves working with both beginners and experienced musicians and has been teaching since 2014. He is excited to share the knowledge he acquired with new aspiring musicians! Paul has toured the world many times with groups ranging from folk music (Tiny Habits) to modern jazz music. He graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in bass performance.
Curtis Nowosad is a JUNO-nominated, NYC-based jazz drummer, composer, educator, and recording artist. Having made his home uptown for over a decade, the native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada has established himself as an integral part of the NYC and international jazz scene, both as a bandleader and a sideperson. Curtis has played in the bands of many top jazz artists of multiple generations, including Jazzmeia Horn, Jane Monheit, Brianna Thomas, Jimmy Greene, Jocelyn Gould, Craig Harris, and Braxton Cook, with whom he has toured extensively in Europe, Asia, and North America and performed on NPR's *Tiny Desk Concerts*. He has also played with five NEA Jazz Masters: Candido Camero, Dave Liebman, Jimmy Owens, Ron Carter, and Kenny Barron. Curtis' newest release on La Reserve Records, *I Am Doing My Best*, is his fourth full-length album and is co-produced by two-time JUNO winner Joey Landreth. He is an endorser of Zildjian cymbals, Vic Firth sticks, and Yamaha drums.
