Utilizing multigenerational storytelling, documentary, dance performance, and a community mural, this project engages participants in an exploration of the Centennial Art Center's controversial past as a "whites only" swimming pool, which shut down abruptly in 1961 amidst desegregation unrest. Using the arts as a conduit and a support system, this project will provide a platform for an honest accounting of our past to crack open the door for potential reconciliation and a look toward the future.
