Mondo Bizarro and Ripple Effect Water Literacy Project are combining the twin influences of art and education with a partnership called Invisible Rivers. Invisible Rivers is a project that employs the artistic practices of music, theater and boat-building to respond to our region's interconnected struggles against coastal land loss, environmental racism and displacement. We are building boats in rapidly disappearing areas of our coast and hosting classes, dialogues and performances on them.
"Float Lab Concert" is an image of an unfinished Float Lab being used on land to host a visual art exhibition and music concert. "Float Lab On Water" is an image of the Float Lab in Lake Verret, LA. Since these images were taken, we have completed the construction of the Float Lab, including a solar-powered light system, safety rails and portable seating. The Float Lab now lives on the water at River House/Crevasse 22, the site of the proposed grant activities.
