Nestled in the midst of the bustling Research Triangle,Chapel Hill, North Carolina is a small, diverse town with a rich history and a walkable and revitalizing downtown. Chapel Hill is home to an expansive list of restaurants, parks, arts and culture centers, and one of the oldest public universities in the states – the University of Chapel Hill. 

We invite you to stay awhile as there’s much to explore in Chapel Hill and the neighboring towns and cities. 

All in-person conference sessions will be held at various locations in downtown Chapel Hill – all within walking/rolling distance of each other.

Flights

Major airlines fly directly to Raleigh–Durham International Airport (RDU)  from several U.S. cities. Chapel HIll is located within 20 minutes of RDU. Car rentals, bus, shuttles, rideshare, and taxis are available. Some options are available here.

Driving

Bus

Durham Station is the closest Greyhound bus station to Chapel Hill. Take the Go Triangle Transit 405 route from/to Chapel Hill.

 

Train

The nearest Amtrak station to Chapel Hill is in Durham. There are also stations located in Cary, Raleigh, and Burlington.

 

Getting Around

Chapel Hill Transit hosts a free bus system that provides convenient and reliable public transportation across the town. Visit NextBus for real-time arrival info. While riding, you may notice several bus stops with art. That’s all part of the Art + Transit program, that brings vibrancy to the daily commute. There are a lot of choices within walking distance of the Summit. As a Summit participant you will receive discounts at select local restaurants. Breakfast will be provided on Thurs. & Fri. mornings.

Experience

Chapel Hill and it’s neighboring town, Carrboro, is a hub for arts, culture, and outdoor experiences. Here are some ideas to make the most of your stay and experience our charming community!

  • See live music and performances. Several music venues host shows nightly. Check out Carolina Performing Arts, Cat’s Cradle, Local 506, Nightliite, The Arts Center, The Station, and The Cave. 
  • Walk, roll, or bike the greenways. And the best part, find art along the trail! 
  • Shop local. 
  • Visit a museum or library. Peek inside the Ackland Art Museum, Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, and Chapel Hill Public Library. 
  • Tour campus. Schedule a tour of UNC Chapel Hill while on your visit.
