State Arts Agency Support

The Southern Arts Federation wants to ensure that you are aware of the many opportunities for assistance to attend the Performing Arts Exchange. We have compiled this list of resources to help you identify agencies that may be appropriate for you to approach.  PAE is both a capacity building and a professional development experience, therefore many state and regional arts organization see the value in having their artists and presenters represented. If there is no information provided for your state or region, please follow-up with your state arts agency or regional arts organization. We will update the page as more information becomes available. To our knowledge, the content of this is accurate; however the eligibility guidelines and requirements are the sole province of the granting agency.

Florida - Travel subsidies are available to Florida touring artists and small to mid-sized presenters. The Division will provide up to $750 in conference travel support. Funding preference will be given to those individuals who have never attended the Performing Arts Exchange. Check the Division's website at www.Florida-arts.org for Florida Artists and Presenter Network information, or contact Dr. Gaylen Phillips at 850-245-6482. Only one award for one individual will be given per artist ensemble or presenter organization.

Georgia - The Georgia Council for the Arts supports PAE attendance for artists and presenters through a Capacity Building (CB) Grant. Since the next available deadline for this grant is September 2008, GCA will retroactively fund a proposal as long as it falls within the current fiscal year. For more information visit http://www.gaarts.org.

Louisiana -  The Louisiana Division of the Arts allows artists to "fold" the costs of PAE into an application for the Artist Entrepreneur Program.  For more information, please contact Kelly Pepper, Director of Organizations Services at 225-342-8180.

Mississippi - Artists and nonprofit arts organizations can apply for these grants to attend the Performing Arts Exchange:

Artist Minigrants Application postmark deadline: June 1, 2008
Minigrants for Individual Artists support the professional development of artists by funding travel and registration for appropriate conferences and workshops. Artists may apply for up to $500, which will be paid upon completion of participation/purchase and the submission of documentation (receipts, paid invoices).  Artist Minigrants are competitive and do not require a cash match. For more information:  http://www.arts.state.ms.us/grants/artist-minigrant.php

Organizational Minigrants Application postmark deadline: June 1, 2008 (for projects beginning July 1, 2008 and ending by June 30, 2009) Minigrants range from $50 to $1,000 and require a dollar-for-dollar cash match. Conference Minigrants support registration and travel expenses for conferences and workshops that benefit an arts organization by training staff and board members. (For grants to send a staff or board member to a conference or other training opportunity, the organization must submit a registration brochure with the application, along with any supplementary material that would describe topics and speakers and an explanation of how the organization will benefit from attendance by the individuals.)  For more information:  http://www.arts.state.ms.us/grants/minigrants.php
