In 2008, a group of Alabama presenters met in Birmingham at the Alys Stephens Center to discuss forming a presenter consortium. The Arts Consortium of Alabama (ACA) grew out of this meeting with the mission "to cultivate and promote the presentation, production, and touring of the arts in Alabama; to create and foster partnerships through collaborations; and to advocate for the arts and arts education." The Alabama Dance Council is acting as fiscal agent for the Consortium until such time that a steering committee moves forward with articles of incorporation and the filing for 501(c)3 status with the IRS. The ACA meets annually at the Performing Arts Exchange and for special statewide meetings as scheduled. The ACA has also participated in meetings with Mississippi and Louisiana presenters as the Gulf States Presenters Network.

The Arts Consortium of Alabama will host an Alabama Presenters Networking Summit on Friday evening, August 18, and Saturday morning, August 19, at The Dance Foundation in Birmingham. A variety of events and sessions are planned to stimulate conversation and foster ideas for block-booking opportunities for Alabama presenters. Approximately 20 presenters are expected to attend the Summit.
