Dancing Grounds (DG) and the People's Institute for Survival and Beyond (PISAB) will cultivate the next generation of southern artist activists through Freedom Schools: Revolution Reimagined. Freedom Schools train young artists using an arts-based approach to PISAB's Undoing Racism® and Community Organizing workshop, culminating in a Youth Town Hall and Dance for Social Change Festival that brings youth, professional artists, and policymakers together to advance organizing for racial justice.
The photos are from DG and PISAB's inaugural Youth Town Hall in 2022 at New Orleans Jazz Market. They depict a dance performance by the Freedom Schools teens and the Wellness Corner, at which young people talked to wellness leaders and participated in interactive activities to improve their mental health practices.
