Folk Fest was founded in 1974 by the Townlift Committee of Cumberland Gap as an event to highlight folk arts and crafts to promote the historic Appalachian town of Cumberland Gap. The daylong event occurred on and off for twenty years and now, after nearly twenty years of absence, the Guardians of the Gap are reviving Folk Fest for a new generation.
