Linda May Han Oh, originally from Malaysia and raised in Western Australia, is a versatile musician currently residing in Boston. Her musical journey began with piano, bassoon, and electric bass, later transitioning to upright bass in 2002 at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), where she graduated with first-class honors. Her early recognition includes being a James Morrison Scholarship Finalist in 2003 and an IAJE Sister in Jazz in 2004. In 2008, Oh received the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer’s award and an honorary mention at the Thelonious Monk Bass Competition in 2009.

Completing her Masters at the Manhattan School of Music in 2008 under the guidance of mentors like Jay Anderson, John Riley, Phil Markowitz, Dave Liebman, and Rodney Jones, Oh is now involved in education. She teaches at the pre-college division of the Manhattan School of Music and conducts jazz video conference master classes for high schools across the United States.

Linda May Han Oh has shared the stage with prominent artists such as Joe Lovano, Steve Wilson, Vijay Iyer, Dave Douglas, Kenny Barron, Geri Allen, Fabian Almazan, and Terri Lyne Carrington. Currently serving as the bassist for guitarist Pat Metheny, she remains active as a double bassist, electric bassist, and composer. Her diverse and accomplished career reflects her commitment to musical excellence and education.
